Albert was looking for a unique home, a space that reflected how he lives and his own idea of home. At the start of the project, we found a recently renovated house, but of very poor quality. Our first instinct was to strip it back, revealing the authentic textures of brick, masonry and the timber beam structure, and uncovering, too, the charming surprise of a pitched roof full of character. Within this broad, open space, we designed two key elements that address the entire programme: a central box that integrates the bathroom and storage, and a continuous millwork element that adapts to the home’s different needs, serving as storage in the entry, a desk, a TV unit, a laundry area and, finally, the kitchen.
