Complete renovation of a classic apartment in Barcelona’s upper district

Can Christian was a space with great potential, but out of step with its time. Through design, it became a continuous, luminous space with long sightlines that connect the rooms. Materiality was the guiding thread throughout, creating a balanced mix of materials. The original herringbone parquet, a historic remnant of the property, was restored to its full splendor. It is paired with warm walnut wood, the Macael marble countertop, and the glazed tile of the balconies. It is set apart from the more private area of the house, resolved with an ecru microcement floor.
Project
Year: 2019
Dimensions: 120 m2
Typology: Residential, Renovation

Photography: The home hunter

An elegant, sophisticated home. Full of details and inviting corners.

A series of details brings the renovation into balance. The entry niche welcomes you in. The headboard in the primary bedroom adds warmth while also concealing the dressing area. The archway to the day area, and the kitchen niche, become the perfect link between the countertop and the dining bench. Subtle details, yet highly effective. They bring cohesion and style to this dream home.
An elegant residence, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open-plan living area, laundry room and 3 balconies
Restored original materials and new high-quality elements
